It was Gabo's birthday recenlty. He would've been 88 years old today, sadly he left us this April and he left in his wake a legacy that is vast and varied.

Needless to say he was an inspiration to generations because of the sheer originality of his voice. I found one more reason to admire him from this article about him by Maira Popov where she describes his life as "a heartening testament to the fact that a purpose is not something you are born with but something you find and cultivate, something that reveals itself when you let your life speak — even when what your life has to say is not, at first, what you want to hear."

People have different ways of expressing their admiration in different ways. Some have the wherewithal to print banknotes in his honor, whereas humble people like yours truly seek to learn Spanish to be able to read the words he actually read.

Speaking of things that get peed on, walls are a clear favourite. Prehaps that is the reason why they are a favoured as canvases for expressing one's opinion - political or otherwise. Where else will you get a man's undivided attention? This kitten by Banksy in Gaza hopes to remind people of all the fragile innocent that get trampled on in a conflict. People don't seem too moved by it though. Check out his other recent work in Gaza here.

Everyone however doesn't take a welcoming view of walls getting peed on, like these German folks who like their streets stench free. They've ensured that karmic retribution is instant and merciless. Check out the details here.

Call me Lazy

I haven't been feeling very creative these days and I find just the thing in my mailbox: Grant Snider's "Words and Pictures" about

You can find his work here. I find his self referential and self depreciating humor very interesting and very relate-able. Also his color palate and his whimsical drawing aesthetic make his work a treat for the eye.

P.S. I know I didn't put enough of myself into it. Guilty as charged.
